About

A native of the 'The Home of Golf', Doug's family moved to Paris, Ontario when he was an infant and he was introduced to the game by his father at The Paris Golf Club. In his early teens the family moved back to Scotland where his passion for the game grew. He became the youngest golf professional in Scotland when at the age of twenty-one he was appointed Head Professional at the Douglas Park, a Private Club on the outskirts of Glasgow. At Douglas Park he developed an excellent reputation as a teacher of the game and was invited to the Middle East to be the Teaching Professional at The Awali Golf Club in Bahrain. Prior to Lake Joseph Doug spent time at The Galt Country Club, Owen Sound Golf & Country Club, The Diamond 'in the Ruff' and Bigwin Island
From his experience of competing in The Canadian Open, Doug learned that focusing solely on technique is not enough to succeed and as a result has dedicated himself to helping others through the process of coaching. He strongly believes there is an untapped potential in everyone. His approach is simple but not easy and involves what he calls '3D Coaching'. The 3 D's represent Desire, Design and Discipline.
In addition to coaching golf, Doug is an instructor in the Professional Golf Management Degree and Diploma Programs at Georgian College in Barrie and a National Facilitator of the Teaching & Coaching Certification Program for the PGA of Canada.
A father of four, Doug loves spending time with his sons Brandon and Andrew both on and off the course. He also enjoys the torment of being a Maple Leaf fan
